J&K Housing Board has been established in the year 1976 under the J&K Housing Board Act, 1976. As per the said Act, the following work areas have been assigned to the Board:
i. Housing Colonies (Residential).
ii. Office Complexes in the Government Sector.
Accordingly, over the years, the J&K Housing Board has established some major Housing Colonies in the State and also executed some deposit projects belonging to Government Sector.
