Srinagar Development Authority/Jammu Development Authority  (SDA/JDA) have been set up under Section 3 of J&K Development Act 1970. The main objective is to promote and secure development of Local Areas of Srinagar/Jammu. These Authorities have power to acquire, to hold, to manage, dispose of land and other properties and to execute other infrastructural development works. These authorities are responsible for preparation and implementation of Master Plan for the respective cities in order to provide for planned development of requisite physical and social infrastructure. VC is the head of the authority exercise powers major head of the department in respect of financial administrative and technical matters.
